(November 7, 2009 - CHICAGO) Representative Deborah L. Mell's community advisory meetings, which took place in late October and the first Tuesday of November, brought together several community members who were interested in sharing solutions and presenting their concerns for key issues impacting the district.

The contest focuses on how laws are developed and asks students (grades 6–12) to write an essay about what they believe “ought to be a law.” An application is required to participate.

I wanted let you know that I am a member of the newly formed Bi-Partisan Task Force on Government Reform and Spending Reductions. We have been asked to review suggestions made by the Governor's Taxpayer Action Board (TAB) and the Senate's Committee on Deficit Reduction and to submit ideas believed to have merit and be worthy of further consideration by the committee.
