IL Automated Victim Notification System

Crime and Safety

The Illinois Automated Victim Notification System provides victims and concerned citizens with a toll-free number (1-800-228-3368) they can call for up-to-date information on the custody and/or case status of an offender. Illinois AVN operates through interfaces with the jail booking system, the Illinois Department of Corrections, the Illinois Department of Human Services, and circuit court clerks throughout the state.

Callers may choose to register for automatic notification through Illinois AVN. Registered persons will receive notification of any change in an inmate's status. Persons registered for court information will receive notification of any change in case status. Callers select the phone number(s) where they wish to be notified and a PIN (Personal Identification Number) to be used to confirm receipt of the notification.

Illinois AVN is also available online at www.vinelink.com, a public Web site that allows visitors to search for offender custody and case status. Users can also register online for phone or e-mail notification of changes in an offender's custody and/or court case status.
