Sexual Harassment in Higher Ed. Posters

Human Rights

In August, 2009, Governor Pat Quinn signed into law a measure that requires all institutions of higher education covered by the Illinois Human Rights Act to inform their student bodies of the illegality of sexual harassment.

The original bill was sponsored by State Senator Iris Martinez (D-20) and State Representative Deborah Mell (D-40). According to the new law, Public Act 96-574, every institution is required to post in a prominent and accessible location a poster outlining sexual harassment laws and policies.
