Held twice a year, the community advisory meetings bring together neighbors of the 40th district to discuss a variety of issues facing the state. Everyone is given a chance to share their concerns and offer solutions.

2010 Pension Update

This week, the House passed Public Employee Pension Reform (Senate Bill 1946). In recent days there has been a great deal written about this issue and I want to provide some information that I hope will be helpful to you.

2010 Budget Update

Dear Friends:
 
Last week, Governor Quinn presented his budget proposal to the General Assembly for Fiscal Year 2011, which begins July 1 of this year. He proposed about $2 million in cuts from state operations, education, health and human services and pensions. The Governor also suggested that the state borrow about $4.7 billion to re-finance the state’s debt at a lower rate, and carry over $6.3 billion in debt into next year’s budget.

2010 Spring Session Update

Last week, Governor Quinn launched an interactive Website (www.budget.illinois.gov) to provide Illinois residents with information on the state budget. Visitors to the site are invited to provide suggestions and feedback to the Quinn Administration.
